OpenBnB is a free Chrome extension that helps travelers skip platform fees by finding direct booking links while they browse Airbnb. It highlights listings with a host website, shows the direct link on the listing page, and can filter a search to only show places with direct booking options.
Setup is simple. Install once, use Airbnb as usual, and OpenBnB checks whether the host has a book-direct site. The project already tracks roughly 1,500 hosts representing about 150,000 listings, with most coverage in the United States.
Why it matters: direct booking can save around 15 to 20 percent, often hundreds of dollars on longer stays, and builds a cleaner relationship between guest and host. The team estimates that 20 to 33 percent of Airbnb listings can be booked directly, so coverage has plenty of room to grow.
